Clarity: Under-rated

Its becoming more and more clear to me that clarity of vision is probably *the* most important thing a business needs right from the start. If thats not there, the business will most likely not succeed. The logic being:

1. if there is no clarity, there can be no simplicity and fun in doing the daily work.
2. If there is no simplicity and fun, there will be no smile on the face.
3. If there is no smile on the face, your customers (if any at all) will not enjoy working with you.
4. If your customers dont enjoy working with you, you will not enjoy working with them.
5. If youre not enjoying your day, soon the stress will become too much to bear.
6. When the stress is too much to bear, you'll wish you were somewhere else (as everywhere around you people will now appear to be having fun, except you)
7. Once youre wishing you were somewhere else, you'll soon stop finding the need to put yourself through the drudgery of your business and soon will call it quits.

One needs to be crystal clear what one wants to achieve, and why (whats the reason we are in this business in the fisrt place). Once youre clear that this is the right place for you, then your energies multiply, you enjoy doing what youre doing, there is excitement in the air, youre waking up in the morning looking forward eagerly to start your day, and that excitement is so contagious it can be seen on your face and will rub off on your customers too.

So if youre not feeling clear of your idea and your business, its time to sit down and question yourself why, deal with the answers, iron out the creases and if necessary even bail out. Theres no point in giving a half-hearted formality-of-a-push to your business when even you doint believe in it.

Dont get me wrong: "dont believe in it" doesnt mean your business wont make money, it means "i am not feeling this is the best place for me to be". You can be a millionaire and still not be enjoying life, which will make you question and repent on how youve spent your years, and always make you feel like you lost something along the way. Not to mention the stress of maintaining your millionaire status through a business you dont especially like!

So think hard, think strong - and make sure youre really clear on why you are in business in the first place. Or for that matter, why you are doing what you are doing in all walks of life.
